![]() For close combat, especially behind some melee guys, shotguns are amazing. I gave two low level colonists chain shotguns and they killed three scythers without being hurt. Stop bashing people for wanting invulnerable children, ya Biotech. I sometimes have a commando unit or two that use chain shotguns, though I prefer the pawn to have the tough trait before I volunteer them to the position. It offers a 3-shot burst mechanism, and each bullet does a high amount of damage. The Proper Shotguns Mod makes pump shotguns and chain shotguns fire 6 pellets simultaneously rather than one single shot. It's almost impossible for the zombies to mob you if you've got 3 or 4 chain shotguns. So make sure you manage your pawns's needs very well, have drugs and food nearby, or rotate teams while the other half is getting some sleep.HOWEVER, that's only if you have a good shooter. This killbox is much slower than my generic setup. Maybe a firefoam turret could be introduced into the mix.Īnd as I already mentioned, speed. Given that these killboxes are dependable but very slow at processing the raids, an inferno centipede getting in a fight with human raiders right in my killbox happened multiple times. Also enemies won't path through there at all if all the walkable tiles are on fire, which makes it very complicated to funnel them where you want them. That assumption goes to hell the moment some raider or a centipede splashes burning chemfuel on the middle tiles. You need enemies to walk through that middle corridor, and they do, because the walk speed through the doors is faster than the side barricades. They then balooned far into my courtyard, trapping most of my people in a stampede of epic proportions.įire. I had 150+ tribals walk inside that killbox at once. Even with the unpowered turret/zoned animal etc it's not 100%. The collision techniques don't always work. It was extremely cheesy, allowing me to mow down 60 centipedes in a day with a team of ca 10 pawns. Now, go play some rimworld and have fun (or don't, but it will make me very sad :( ).Įdit: Please keep comments specific to this killbox. Please consider upvoting this post so more people can see this. Don't forget to add a way to slow enemies down! All around great design, however, make sure to have some way to put the enemies into "combat mode", ie using an unpowered turret. Having a specialized shooter here would be great as well as the combat command for leader. In this killbox, gunlinks get some love, I would definitely recommend gunlinks instead of helmets. More numbers (population) and accuracy would be priority. Armor is kinda useless here, if you can kill the enemy fast enough, you wont need armor. Some cons however, sometimes enemies won't go for your pawns, enemies can get stuck if you have a slowing room and (like all killboxes) only can be used for "regular" raids. When compared against other killboxes, this killbox is easily affordable because no turrets (and no refilling turrets), close ranged and dependable. Another quirk about it is if the killbox is facing east (facing the same direction in the video), enemies will come around 1 tile closer before shooting. If you can get one, put a psychic emanator in the room behind your killbox with all your pawns so while they sit there, they won't try and murder eachother. Doors must be built from the strongest materials you have, ie granite or plasteel. Advice for the killbox itself, make sure its built out of stone, NOT WOOD. Once you research gas operation, ditch your machine pistols and craft chain shotguns. If you are rushing and want this to be your first killbox, research gunsmithing first, craft machine pistols for all of your colonists. This killbox needs to be supported in some way during early game, like having a spike trap + fence 2 wide hallway. This killbox is incredible in late game raids when you have guns, pawns, and plasteel. Its INSANE against human raids, mech raids and manhunter packs, however, drop pod raids, sapper/breacher raids and sieges make this killbox obsolete Have you guys heard of the Singularity Killbox?
